Preschool Ninjas

Our preschool Ninja classes begin from the age of 2 years to school age, theses classes are 45 minutes long and require a parent or guardian at all times.

The first 5 years of a child’s life are the most important time in their development. They are growing and learning at a rapid speed; the fastest they ever will in their life. This stage of their development is a window of opportunity and will set them up for life. We provide this age group with loads of room to move and explore their surroundings.

In this class we encourage development by providing:

 Mini Ninjas

These classes are designed to help children between the ages of 4 – 6 years in all areas of their physical and mental development. Throughout their karate journey they will have fun and develop friendships, two of the most important ingredients a child of this age needs.

Martial arts is a discipline which entails understanding and learning to have respect for others and oneself. This lesson is taught by following simple instructions given to students.

Students will learn:

  • To follow simple instructions in Japanese and English
  • Develop coordination
  • Develop physical strength
  • Become more aware of their surroundings

This class sets children up for success. As they advance through the ninja stripe and badge system, they learn that they are recognised for their efforts. At Karate Academy Sydney we believe students will learn life skills that will help shape them into stronger individuals.

Junior classes for children between the ages of 7 – 9 years are designed to be fun and predictable. When a child knows what they are doing, they are more confident and become more receptive to learning. Children have the most fun when they are active and can share the excitement with their friends in a safe environment. Karate is a great place for children to develop social skills and find new friends while learning very important skills.

Throughout their development in karate their self-confidence will grow, empowering them to stand up for themselves. Students will learn to respect others and to understand that their actions have consequences which they are accountable for. Karate provides a balance of all the physical and mental tools important for children’s growth and development: Attention, Core strength, Balance, Fine & Gross motor skills, Flexibility, Coordination, Fitness

As they advance through the ninja belt system they learn that they have the ability to put their new-found skills into practice. Karate Academy Sydney strives to gives children a solid foundation in self-discipline.

Teen Adult Classes
Teen/Adult Classes

Senior classes are available for all skills and fitness levels. No need to feel embarrassed or wait to lose those extra 5 kilos before joining. At Karate Academy Sydney believe everyone is capable of improvement and development.

This class is designed to integrate younger students from the age of 10 and those new to martial arts to work together with other teenagers and adults. Students learn patience and develop an appreciation for passing knowledge.

In this class full grades will be awarded at each grading according to the Japanese Goju Ryu belt system to those students who have reached the next stage in their skill level and understanding. A black belt represents the first full cycle of a white belt which never gave up!

Self-discipline is one of the most important skills anyone can learn to help them on their path through life. Whether in school, or in the workplace as an adult, the ability to focus oneself and work towards a goal is an invaluable skill. Not only this but an emphasis on discipline and behaviour in the Dojo develops good habits outside of the Dojo.

The path to success in any walk of life is achieved through focus and discipline and this is especially important for the martial arts. Our black belts know that above everything else they must show respect not only to themselves, but to others as well. Having a good attitude is of utmost importance to any karateka.

Being disciplined is not just about having a good attitude, it’s about treating your body with respect. Karate provides a unique balance of strengthening, stretching, motor skill development, cardio workout and coordination.

You don’t need martial arts experience however this class combined with a karate class would be beneficial. Learn takedowns, locks, self-defense techniques disarming and much much more. womens fitness self defenceWomen’s Group Fitness and Self-Defense

These classes are geared for women only. It’s fitness with a twist! Expect to increase your fitness level while learning to defend yourself effectively in all situations. In these classes women will develop strength and coordination as well as learn effective responses to various self-defence situations with simple techniques.

There are two key factors in successfully defending ourselves. The first is to avoid the situation altogether and we achieve this through having an awareness of our surroundings. The second factor is having the confidence to remain calm when faced with a potentially threatening situation. When we have control of our emotions we are able to make better judgements.

Our 10 class pass encourages participants to stay focused and motivated through ongoing practice of movements and improved flow and coordination, which allows for automatic responses in different situations daily. In these classes you will work at your own pace according to your own fitness level.

Private lessons are recommended for anyone who may be needing some extra attention. Private lessons are a good way to fast track your development in techniques you may be struggling with or if you simply need someone to motivate you into shape.

Mentoring Program

Our mentoring program has been developed to provide students with a form of responsibility towards others. Mentored students become better equipped to offer guidance, support and encouragement to others inside and outside of the dojo.

Karate Do, literally translates to, ‘the way of life’.  Through this process students will develop the ability to identify their goals and then break them down into achievable steps, a skill crucial to their future success.
