Kids Karate Classes | Micro Ninjas

Welcome to our Micro Ninja Program, specially designed for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years!
At Karate Academy Sydney, we believe in starting karate training at a young age to instill discipline, focus, and self-confidence in our little ones. Our Micro Ninja Program offers a fun and engaging environment where children can develop essential life skills while learning the fundamentals of karate.
Through our program, children will not only discover the exciting world of martial arts but also reap numerous benefits tailored to their age group. Here are some of the karate benefits specifically designed for children between 3 and 5 years old:
Motor Skills Development: Our Micro Ninja Program focuses on enhancing children’s gross and fine motor skills. Through various karate activities and exercises, children will develop coordination, balance, agility, and body awareness.
Discipline and Focus: Karate training teaches young children the importance of following instructions, respecting others, and staying focused. These skills are crucial for their overall development and will benefit them in other areas of life as well.
Confidence Building: As children learn and progress in karate, they gain a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. Our experienced instructors create a nurturing environment where children feel encouraged to overcome challenges and believe in their abilities.
Social Skills and Respect: In our Micro Ninja classes, children have the opportunity to interact with their peers and learn important social skills such as teamwork, cooperation, and empathy. They also develop a deep respect for their instructors and fellow classmates.
Emotional Regulation: Karate training helps children learn how to manage their emotions effectively. Through controlled movements and breathing exercises, they develop self-control and learn to channel their energy in a positive way.
Safety Awareness: Our Micro Ninja Program incorporates basic self-defense techniques suitable for this age group. Children will learn essential safety skills and how to protect themselves in various situations, promoting a sense of security and empowerment.

At the young age of 6, Chris embarked on his karate journey in 2007 under the expert tutelage of Pat Drago Shihan, specialising in Goju-Ryu. He honed his skills early on, participating in numerous Koshiki tournaments across locations such as Barrel and Picton.
In 2013, Chris embraced new challenges by joining Seiwakai under Glenn Stephenson Shihan, advancing through inter-club tournaments and gaining valuable competitive experience. His progression through the Dan ranks was guided by Jessica Vetrisano Sensei, whose mentorship has been pivotal in shaping him into the accomplished karateka he is today.
He has competed at the highest levels, qualifying for the JKF (Japanese Karate Federation) World Tournament held in Osaka (2023), Okinawa (2024), and placing top 8 in Sendai (2025)—marks of his elite skill and relentless pursuit of excellence.
In addition to Goju Ryu Karate, Chris has immersed himself in Ryukyu Shimbukan Kobudo under the mentorship of Hiroshi Akamine Kaicho and Dell Hamby Kyoshi, enriching his understanding of traditional Okinawan martial arts.
This year, Chris proudly joined the NSW Karate State Team and competed at the 2025 Karate Australia National Championships in Adelaide, South Australia, where he claimed 3rd place—a remarkable achievement on the national stage.
As a proud member of Karate Australia (the Australian Karate Federation), Chris continues to embody the spirit of the martial art—dedicated, growing, and inspiring.
