KAS on Sunrise – Karate Academy Sydney Showcased on National TV!

A Proud Moment Aired Wednesday, 28 May at 8:30 am

Karate Academy Sydney (KAS) proudly took the national stage on Channel 7’s Sunrise Morning Show on Wednesday, 28 May – bringing the power, discipline, and beauty of traditional Goju Ryu Karate into homes across Australia.

In celebration of the release of the Karate Kid Legends Movie, our dojo was featured in a special segment that highlighted the spirit of Karate and the importance of martial arts in shaping confident, respectful, and resilient individuals.

Karate Kid Legends: Our Stars Took the Spotlight!

Our young karatekas truly shone on screen:

⭐ Domonic from our Micro Class

⭐Jay-J and Anna-Lee from our Junior Class

⭐ And, of course, the ever-inspiring “Mrs. Miyagi” – Sensei Jessica, our Chief Instructor

These students proudly demonstrated their skills in kihon, kata, and kumite, showing Australia what it means to train in a traditional Goju Ryu dojo. The energy, spirit, and focus they brought to the screen made us incredibly proud – and certainly gave the nation something to cheer about!

A Win for Traditional Karate in Australia

This feature wasn’t just a moment for KAS – it was a win for traditional karate across the country. It celebrated the deep roots of Goju Ryu Karate, passed down through generations.

The segment highlighted the strength of our community and the values we uphold, working together to keep these values alive, are national and international bodies, including:

🥋 #NSWKarate

🥋 #KarateAustralia

🥋 #ATKF (Australasian Traditional Karate Federation)

🥋 #JKFGA (Japan Karate Federation Goju Kai Australia)

🥋 #Seiwakai – our global Goju Ryu family

A Moment to Remember

We’re beyond grateful to Sunrise for giving our dojo a platform to share the tradition and passion behind Karate. It was a powerful reminder of why we train and why Karate continues to be such a valuable part of so many lives.

To everyone who tuned in, supported, and cheered us on: thank you! Your energy fuels our mission to keep the spirit of Karate alive and thriving in NSW.
